Guitar Hero Sucks- Part III |

Yes people, perhaps I am in the minority but I can honestly tell you one thing- I think Guitar Hero, complete with plastic toy guitar, is an utterly useless and stupid invention.
As a real guitarist I would rather spend my time learning a real instrument rather than play a finger version of Dance, Dance Revolution. Many people have commented saying that the video game has caused them to eventually play the real guitar. Good for them. No, really. You can't go to a party, pick up your plastic toy guitar, and impress young ladies. People, please help me understand why anyone would want to waste time on a non musical toy? Life is short- invest time wisely!
When I first tried playing this game I honestly gave it a fair shot. I grabbed the 10 inch plastic guitar ( which looks like something my 5 year old nephew would laugh at) and began trying to follow the music. I was horrified after about 10 minutes when I could not keep up with the fast scrolling "notes".
After playing guitar for almost 15 years I had become a useless beginner who could not play a simple note to a crappy Aerosmith tune. My horror turned into an even worse feeling when I noticed 3 teenagers behind me in the store making fun of my crappy "playing". I walked away feeling lower than slime.
My point is this: I wish that the game would reward actual guitar playing skills, rather than frustrate a seasoned player.
But perhaps I am missing the point- does the game by itself offer a fun and enjoyable experience? Sadly I will never know because I was humiliated in public. After the incident I went home and honestly had to convince myself that I could still play the real guitar. I plugged in my Gibson, cranked the volume up to 9, and ripped nasty solos for a good 3 hours. Damn you Guitar Hero! Who needs your crappy game when I can solo so fast on the real guitar I could make BB King roll over in his grave. Oh wait, he is still alive.
Please people, support real playing.
