For those unfamiliar with Digidesign, let me just say, if you are looking to get into the Pro Tools market, Digidesign is your industry leader.

The Digidesign 003 continues the famous line of Pro Tools hardware modules which allow you to connect a plethora of input and output into your computer and communicates with Pro Tools software. Let’s put it this way- As far as digital software and hardware solutions are concerned, Pro Tools may just have the most flexible and powerful software around.

As for features, the Digi 003 has amazing high fidelity recording resolution (True 24-bit/96kHz) for better than CD quality audio. Your initial recordings will most likely blow your ears off as you get used to the incredibly rich and professional sound achieved with this unit. What I like best about the Digidesign 003 is that it has more inputs than ever (a total of 8 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs). Amazing versatility. I was more pleased with the sound of this unit than the previous 002 model, which I have used for a solid 5 years. Basically, at around $1200 dollars you cannot find a more comprehensive solution. Recording & Production Tips

Before you invest in any new equipment, it’s essential to educate yourself on the proper recording/production techniques you will need to get the most out of your purchase. If you really want to learn how to make great recordings with little effort, pick up a copy of the Home Recording Studio Guide by Jim Koblick. It’s well-written, 115 page color guide of good stuff, instant download. I got this a few months ago and paid $39, now I think he has it up for $27. His site is kinda cheesy compared to how good the guide is. Check it out.

Digital Recording has come a long way in the past decade - combined with solid recording and production skills, your home demos can truly sound like major label recordings.
