Boss was perhaps one of the original multi track producers with their Roland Series of VS recorders back in the day. I must admit I am fond of the VS880, which I am proud to say was my first dabble into digital multi-track recording.
For those of you unfamiliar with the VS 880, this was perhaps Roland's most famous multi-track recorder which shipped (back in the late 1990's with only 500 megabytes of memory!) I remember paying well in excess of $800 for the unit and felt that it was worth every penny. (review continued below...)

Aside from this history lesson, by comparison, the Boss BR-600 is light years ahead of the early multi-track recorders due to the excellent COSM effects, flexible ins/ and outs, and overall recording time allowed. If you are interested in buying a portable recording solution, the BR-600 will fit nicely. Another great point is that over the years this technology has not only dropped in price, but the list of features has increased 10 fold. (See full specs below)
