One word- Buttery magic. This pedal is one of my personal favorites in terms of sustain enhancer and performs very well. I think there are very few pedals that I can think of which will actually make and change my playing for the better.
The CS-3 makes me solo better. How? Essentially, this pedal compresses louder signals while boosting lower signals, providing smooth sustain without degrading the original sound quality. The result obviously is longer sustained solo power that would make Carlos Santana cream in his pants! (review continued below...)

On the front of the unit you will find controls for Onboard Level, Tone, Attack and Sustain. I use these to adjust how much of the effect I want to have in my signal. When the pedal boosts the lower signals you will hear an instant refreshing of your tone for the better.
Warning: using this pedal is addictive. In fact, I find that without the use of this pedal my guitar now sounds flabby and less distinctive. Thus, for me this pedal normalizes my tone for the better and for that reason has become an essential piece of my rig. As for construction, the famous durability of Boss stompbox is present here.
I think one of the biggest concerns I have read about this pedal is noise. After using the CS-3 under all different conditions and gear, I can firmly say that the signal noise is kept to a minimum and if you are playing live, you should not notice any noise whatsoever. Overall a great pedal which retails for around $80 bucks.
