Review: Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany |

Ah, how I love my rich mahogany! No, I am not referring to the famous Ron Burgandy line...
I am talking about the Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany Electric Guitar. Retailing for slightly under $1000.00, (even less on ebay) Gibson has appealed to an even wider market than it already does with this guitar.
What obviously makes the Gibson Vintage Mahogany guitar series unique is the master quality wood which composes it's sweet body.
The top AND back of this guitar is full mahogany which has been shaped and carved by hand in the vintage styling. in case you are wondering, Gibson started this double mahogany with their original Black Beauty series. Mahogany is clearly not the lightest wood in the world so if you are looking for a guitar which is on the lighter end, I suggest the Gibson Studio series may be more up your guitar alley.
With all that vintage look and feel physically, Gobson desired next to up the ante and install high end Alnico V BurstBucker Pro humbuckers. These come standard on all Les Paul Standards built after 2007. They are incredible pickups and have taken the distinctive Gibson sound up a notch in my opinion- warm, round, and cutting solos. This guitar has beautiful craftsmanship but if you were looking for details such as classic Gibson white binding, you will not find it here.
Binding is pretty expensive and Gibson tells me they wanted to keep the price of this axe within reach for a majority of customers. Overall the Les Paul Vintage Mahogany Guitar is a great addition to the Les Paul line.
