Ah, how I love a nice dedicated delay pedal! To cut to the chase - the Eventide TimeFactor plays more like a rack mount effect than anything floor based.
Essentially, this pedal has power and features seen in high end rack delay units. If you are familiar with my reviews you know that I am a huge fan of Eventide. I find they mix quality construction with killer effects which are well suited for recording applications.
The TimeFactor retails for around $400 bucks, thus it may be too expensive fit someone who is looking for a straight up delay pedal. Boss sells some fantastic options which retail for under $100 bucks and are perfect for live gigs and even some recording.
What makes the Eventide TimeFactor different than your standard delay pedal, you ask? First, the entire pedal is wired fit true stereo delay effects. For live applications this is most likely not that applicable, however, when you start recording you need the power and professionalism that true stereo delay pedals can only provide.
You will receive 2 completely independent delays which can each be set for up to 3 seconds. This flexibility is not found in any other floor pedals. Essentially it is like having two Boss delays chained up in one device.
A total of ten different delay types are available including digital delay, band delay, vintage, filter pong, tape echo, modulation, reverse, and looper. These effects sound fantastic pumped through an amp (I was using my JCM 2000 TSL) or when used with PC recording software such as protools.
What I love about this pedal is that Eventide understands that sometimes old fashion knobs are quicker and easier to use than digital controls. You will find 10 actual control knobs on this monster. It also has the ability to store up to 27 user configs that you can have fun crafting. See below for full specs. I have been incredibly satisfied with this pedal and consider it the last delay pedal I will ever need!
