The Shure SM57 and SM58 are universally known as industry workhorses (for recording and live applications).
The reason that these mics are famous around the world is that they are extremely affordable (less than $100 new!), are almost indestructible, and sound fantastic. Most touring musicians are using at least a handful SM57's in their live applications, whether it be for drums or amplifier miking. The difference between the SM57 and SM58 is that the 58 is made for vocal miking and has a most robust sound.
The good people at Shure have now put together a bundle packages which contains 6 Shure Mics: 4 of the Shure SM58s and 2 of the legendary Shure SM57s, plus all the accessories you need for putting them on your mic stands and plugging them in. This live package will retail for $669.
This is an incredible value for 6 mics! In my opinion, if you play live shows or are looking for a bunch of mics to record some of your music, I strongly suggest this package which will save you hundreds of dollars and includes many of the accessories you need to properly mic drums, guitar amps, or vocal applications. Word on the street is that Shure is selling a good number of these bundles. I think the reason is that their mics are incredible and this bundle was well thought out.
