In my first review a few months ago I talked about why I (as an actual guitar player) find Guitar Hero to be utterly useless an more annoying than anything entertaining.
I realize now that there is yet another reason this game sucks- it gives you no skills which are applicable anywhere. For my money I would much rather go ahead and actually PRACTICE on a real instrument and actually cultivate and improve musical skills. I don't claim to be is the greatest guitarist in the world, but I am interested in getting better (rather than improving my top score).
I think the tragedy behind Guitar Hero is that it may actually prevent some people from ever picking up a real instrument. The worst thing in life is wasted talent.
Ever walk by an arcade in a mall and see some fat kid playing Dance, Dance Revolution and mastering the shit out of it? Take that kid to a club on a Saturday and he will hide in the corner. He had cultivated no real applicable talent. Guitar Hero III is the same thing. Don't be that fat kid holding on to the dream! He is a loser.

Guitar Hero is made for kids to have fun and come in contact with music instruments, i really dont belief that Guitar Hero is going to keep kids away from playing a instrument, really, that is way to far fetched.

Keeps people away from playing real guitar? I beg to differ. Because I had a lot of fun with Guitar Hero, I actually started playing guitar, and now have gotten pretty decent in the few years I’ve been playing. Without Guitar Hero, that might not have happened.
