Review: iPhone/ iPod Touch 1.1.4 Update

February 28th, 2008 | Apple

Ron Ganella

In case you haven't plugged you iPod into iTunes lately, check this out: Apple has just added yet another firmware update for both the iPhone and iPod touch (1.1.4).

From early reports online it seems that there are no real visual changes to the devices upon immediate inspection. Apple today acknowledged that the firmware update does fix a few security holes and also stores the contents of multiple open web pages to prevent the dreaded white screen from ruining your day.

What is more exciting though is the timing of this update. Apple made it very clear that the 3rd party SDK would be released in February. This firmware update most likely contains some code which lays the basis for developing software in the not too distant future.

One word of caution- if you have already taken the plunge and jailbroken your device I don't recommend installing this update as early reports say that this will render installer.app useless.
