I am very impressed with this rig. First, it is constructed out of road worthy metal chassis. The ME-20 was designed to put all of Boss's legendary stomp boxes under your foot in a small and affordable package.
The front of the unit has three main pedals used to activate overdrive, modulation, and delay parameters. I was very impressed with this setup and feel like it was a very logical way to assemble the effects. To the far right of the unit you will find the expression pedal, a huge advantage over any of Boss's standard stomp boxes.
What is very cool is that by holding two switches on the front (over drive and modulation) you access the very capable tuner. Also, by holding modulation and delay down, you can access memory mode which allows for up to 30 saved patches.
The sound of the distortion can vary quite dramatically as there are tons of knobs and full EQ at your disposal. My favorite is blues overdrive.
One problem I do have with the pedal is the small two LED display which makes it clumsy to program or access your own sounds on the fly.
The expression pedal proves to be a very capable wah pedal, volume pedal, and allows for smoothly increasing gain on the fly.
All in all, if you hear a sound in your head, you would be hard-pressed not to be able to reproduce it on the ME-20. My favorite thing is the expression pedal, which adds a new dimension to my playing. Overall sound quality is on par with other Boss effects stomp boxes.
