In general, a good pedalboard must provide clean and quick functionality that will stand
up to the rigors of the road. Also, the electronics must be organized well for ease of use and versatility. Bottom line: the SKB delivers for the price (roughly $299). SKB built this beast out of the lightweight but super hard material called polyethylene, which SKB utilizes for their legendary cases as well.
As for power, the PS-45 houses 8 9V outlets for your effects and stompboxes. What I was a bit disappointed with was that this board only has 3 wide spaced outlets for wall wort type AC adapter chords. This is not a problem if you are daisy chaining multiple Boss type effects. However, it would have been nice to have at least 5 inputs for the larger AC adapters. Additionally, you get 8 miniplug-to-DC connectors (for daisy chaining), one miniplug-to-miniplug connector, and one miniplug-to-9V clip. Again, for the price, this translates to a pretty good value.
How much floor space does this sucker take up? The exact dimensions from SKB are 28-3/4"W x 20-1/2"H x 6-1/4"D. As for weight, without any of your effects laying on the board, it weighs in at 23 lbs. After placing 7 of my favorite effects on this board it was pretty damn heavy. Your pedals easily Velcro to the surface of the board and will not move while performing (I tried).
If you are looking to save valuable time when setting up for a gig, you should consider investing in a pedalboard. What I like best about the SKB PS-45 is that it is large enough to really spread out and organize your equipment well, allowing for more professional playing, in my opinion. In conclusion, for the price you do get a good variety of powering option, including some important cable connections, and a large, heavy duty frame. The downside to this is the overall weight of the board may not be practical for a semi professional or hobby artist, and only 3 standard power inputs on the front. I still recommend this item highly.
