Most people who are looking for the Simmons SD5K Electronic drum set are impressed with the relative low cost ($399 retail) of this very capable electronic kit. What is amazing with the ruction of theSimmons SD5K is how many pieces you get for the money- here the kit includes a crash cymbal, ride cymbal, hi hat controller, snare drum pad, 3 tom units, kick drum pad, midi interface, and all cables necessary.
What is immediately noticeable about the Simmons SD5K is that the construction of the unit, including the durable and flexible pads, as well as the hardware and stands are all built to last. Essentially this unit costs hundreds of dollars less than a Roland set yet will run of the same programs and module trigger units found on much more expensive kits.
When selecting an electronic drum kit it is important to keep in mind that while they will obviously be more quiet than conventional acoustic drums, the hitting of the pads and bass drum pedal are still capable of being pretty loud and cann annoy neighbors if you are living directly on top of them. Keep this in mind as you are jamming out on your Simmons SD5K!

The drumkit performs o.k. but – Horrible company service. I purchased the Simmons drumkit on Dec 23 2009 and the kick drum stopped working on Dec 24 2009. Simmons acknowledged a defect in their drum pads on their website. I called and spoke to Gary at Simmons customer service and have not received any service or further communication. I have since called and emailed Simmons numerous times and cannot get ANY service from Simmons what so ever. I am writing this review on Aug 20th 2010 and still nothing from Simmons. Simmons has yet to provide any warranty service, if you’re looking for a new drum kit look into another company with a better track record other than Simmons.
