Site Review: CheaperSounds.com- Musical Equipment Mega Searcher
We take a quick look today at a new entry into the comparison website market- www.cheapersounds.com. Essentially, CheaperSounds aims to bring the world of comparison shopping specifically to musical gear searches. This specialized site just for musicians does a great job of bringing a ton of powerful resources all in one place.
What you first notice about cheapersounds.com has to be the very sleek homepage. This landing page has an almost google-esque look and feel. The irony is that once you do hit the search button the vast amount of relevant data emerging is nothing short of amazing. On the left hand side of the page you will find search results for retail stores (musiciansFriend, Zzounds, etc). On the right hand side of the page you find auction results streamed in live from eBay. Adding the auction element to the search results makes the page come to life. I found that even if I was not interested in buying a used item from eBay I still loved looking at the real photos of gear rather than store-stock photos found on most retail sites.
The site gets the job done, is customizable, and offers a quick user experience. We strongly approve.

Theres really no point to going to cheapersounds if your looking to shop for gear. There is no REAL community and its just a middle man to the big sites like ebay and other retailers. But if your looking for a quick reference it works. Does anyone use this site?
i think they are new because the site looks different every time i go and a little unfinished. i found it while doing a google search for a martin acoustic and landed onto a review page. Apparently they have reviews from harmony-central.com tied into their products, which is actually pretty cool. A lot of other site like guitar center or amazon have short and crapy reviews, but harmony-central is notorious for having super long detailed reviews, so I guess it’s cool to see them right with the product prices. you’re right though, there isn’t a real community on the site. i bookmarked it just in case they keep updating it, because i do think the all-in-one eBay listings is pretty cool. yeah it’s a middle man site, but so is the whole internet. i think it’s a good effort and i’ll check bakc once and a while
