Apple has a new Shuffle on the market that is turning heads and also turning people off. The new Shuffle is a dramatic departure from the rectangular shape of the 2G iPod Shuffle that was complete with a handy clip on the back and actual physical controls. The new iPod Shuffle has a larger capacity (up to 4GB/1000 songs) and offers VoiceOver technology which will speak the name and title of a song allowing for navigation without a screen.
Essentially the new shuffle has lost all physical controls on the actual unit- instead, Apple has moved these to the headphones. Runnings, athletes, and others are concerned that this makes for a cumbersome and clumsy experience. Again, the bottom line is that this device increased the memory and shrinks the size- a standard design implimentation from Apple. My guess is that in the future incarnation of this $79 unit, you may actually start seeing physical buttons again soon.
