Review: Presonus StudioLive
Retailing for around $2,000 the Presonus StudioLive has been designed from the ground up as the ultimate 16 channel mixer for all of your digital needs. First, it is important to understand that this device transfers data using fireire, which is much faster than even USB 2.0 and the fastest on the market today.
The format of StudioLive is 16 Channels, 6 auxes, and 4 subgroups. Presonas stocked the StudioLive with 16 Class A preamps ( a first at this price level) for incredible recording options rivaling big pro studios.
What is equally impressive is the fact that the StudioKuvw cones with good quality built in effects such as EQ, compressor, limited, reverb, and delay which are available on all channels. One feature absent on this device, however, is any type of automation. This could possibly be a deal breaker for some buyers.
With a high end interface at 24-bit/48k, full midi capabilities, and a slew of software which ships with the StudioLive, Presonus has a winner on their hands.
