Review: Cort NZS-2 Neil Zaza Signature Model
For all you Neil Zaza fans out there this $1500 guitar certainly lives up to the artists standards. Crafted to Zaza's exact specifications the NZS-2 is a solid body electric outfitted with some of the most sought after and expensive hardware on the market today. First, the neck itself is constructed out of three separate pieces of maple and feels rugged and stable.
The fretboard continues this quality this time using great quality birds eye maple for a soft yet smooth feel. The guitar tops out at about roughly the same weight as a Fender Strat (around 7 lbs) and is probably half the weight of a Les Paul. As for Pickups, Cort has happily decided on an amazing mix here: Seymour Duncan, Reverse Zebra, and 59 RP. The combination of sound is nothing short of amazing and the 5 position selector switch allows for east dialing in of exact tones with relative ease.
In terms of hardware the best has been also used for tuners: Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners. All in all I give this guitar high marks for careful craftsmenship in terms of wood used and mixture of unique pickups. The overall playability and action in the NZS is very good and well worth the price.
