Retailing for $2500, the Akai MPC5000 is no joke. More than just a simple drum machine sampler, it includes an 8 track HD recorder, serious synth, sequencer, along with different pads.
You will find an increased display which show some pretty good resolution waveforms. Still, I prefer a computer monitor for this type of editing but you can't disagree with the fact that this is pretty useful as an all in one solution.
By adding an option CD burner right to the device you instantly get demos at your fingertips. A serious addition to any studio.
