Review: Guitar Rig 3 Kontrol Edition |

Here is an update review to my original on the Guitar Rig 3 software. Essentially, I gave the Guitar Rig software incredible reviews on the basis of the number of effects which you get for the money as well as the high level of customization which is incredibly easy to do visually.
The Kontrol additional adds a hardware component to this Guitar Rig 3 that was designed, in my opinion, to allow for live gigging (assuming you have a powerful enough notebook computer and feel comfortable bringing it to a nasty club).
I won't go into much detail on the software side of this- you will recall that Guitar Rig 3 emulates any and every effect you could imagine with distortion, delay, flanger, phaser, cab and amp emulation. This thing even allows for microphone emulation as well. The hardware itself is well constructed with 8 high quality foot switches allowing for quick access to your user created patches and an expression pedal allowing for wah, volume, and smooth transition between as many effects as you wish.
Again, in reality, if you have a powerful notebook computer and do feel comfortable bringing this to clubs, the Kontrol Edition footswitch hardware solution WILL allow you to have some incredibly powerful effects at your fingertips without lugging around racks of expensive effects.
The software is reliable and the hardware will last years of road abuse. I highly recommend this. The Kontrol Guitar Rig 3 solution will set you back around $500 dollars new. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative check eBay for some good prices!
