What does it do? Designed primarily as a tool for practicing and learning how to play guitar better, the Fender G-DEC 30 Guitar Digital Entertainment Center is a fun little amp that I am initially very impressed with. It is most valuable for allowing beginner players to experience a wealth of guitar effects and even more teaching tools all built in.
Review: Built with one 10 inch speaker, the G-DEC 30 Guitar Digital Entertainment Center was definately not designed to play Arena level rock concerts. That being said, it is important for you to know exactly what this thing is doing in order to appreciate the amp and see whether or not it is for you.
As for what this amp can do, you will find he 84 drum patterns as well as 50 factory preset backing tracks. Every genre of music has been captured here and I am happy to say that even I have spent countless hours soloing over different backing tracks along with some pretty killer drum accompaniments as well.
I think for any starting guitarist you will benefit from playing to a metronome all the time in order to build your timing up and advance to higher caliber playing.
Likes: Plenty of cool effects, songs, and backing tracks. The amp models, reverb modes and digital effects that are squeezed into this little box are quite impressive.
Dislikes: Poor tuner function and very difficult programming of original compositions means stick to the stock backing tracks that come with the amp.
Overall: An excellent little amp that redefines "practice". I cannot see how buying this would not improve the chops of any player, regardless of skill level. It is so incredibly fun to use that you will find yourself practicing much more.
