Review: Gibson Reverse Explorer Electric Guitar Antique Walnut
This just may be the strangest looking guitar that has ever left the Gibson factory. By strange I mean damn cool!
Scheduled to be released in September 2008, this guitar will features one-piece mahogany body that is now inverted so that the small horn is on the upper bass-side bout extending upward, while the larger horn is now positioned on the lower treble-side bout, pointing downward.
Highlighting the unique body outline is a carbon fiber pickguard shaped like a lightning bolt, extending the entire length of the body. The neck is a hybrid between Gibson's standard '50s rounded contour and its '60s slim-taper profile, topped by a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with carbon fiber inlays at the fifth and 12th fret.
Amazing. If that description can't give you an image, just take a look at the picture above. As discussed with the other new reissue Gibson's, the art deco headstock logo is present here as well. This guitar will retail for around $2000 and includes a hardshell case (of course).
