The Gibson Studio Series of Les Paul guitars entered the scene back in the early 1980's and Gibson has not stopped making them.
These guitars are designed to offer all the the essential pieces which make up a Les Paul, minus some of the trim (such as special bindings and other expensive pieces). Over time, what has happened is that these Studio guitars have taken a life on there own and have become very desirable.
These Gibson Studios feature carved top and humbucker pickups (498T alnico magnet humbucker pickups). One of the biggest things I look for in a guitar is Rosewood fretboard with trapezoid inlays! These guitars are priced in the mid range and retail for around $1300 dollars. I have been using a Gibson Les Paul Studio for the last 3 years and love the tone.
