Review: Gibson 50th Anniversary Flying V Guitar
It is hard to believe it but the first Gibson Flying V guitar went on sale back in 1958?!
The first time I saw one of these guitars I think it may have been in the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Seriously, Gibson has gone to great lengths to reissue this classically shaped masterpiece using exact builder specifications all the way down to the exact same capacitors used in the 58' original.
The body is of course made of solid mahogany with AA Flames maple top. The combination of these high quality woods allows for that distinctive Gibson tone. You will notice a rare headstock Gibson logo on this guitar. It is essentially a more art-deco style which originated in early drawings from Gibson. It also has a 22 fret ebony fingerboard which looks stunning in person and is completed with pearl inlays.
In my opinion this guitar is as much art as it is an amazing instrument. The guitar retails for around $2,200.00.
