If you happened to catch my review of Digitech's RP50 multi effects guitar pedal, you will notice that I am not a huge fan of the RP line. 

In summary, I find the clean effects are too noisy sounding to record with, sound thin when played live through an amp, and the overall construction of the stomp box (using light weight barbie doll quality plastic) hardly makes the RP line "road friendly".  Compare this item to the construction of say, the Digitech Whammy Pedal (full steel enclosure) and you will see that Digitech is truly skimping on the quality of the entire RP line.

Once again the RP90 (for $99 bucks) does nothing amazing nor sounds very good.  Again, my biggest concern is the sound of the digital distortion effects.  You will find they sound incredibly noisy when played through any decent amplifier and so thin and annoying that if you are playing with the rest of your band I highly doubt your lead solos would ever bust through the surface.  The RP90 does nothing groundbreaking here.  I do give Digitech some credit for attaching an expression pedal to the unit, which allows it to act as a volume/wah control, but again, I am not pleased with the sound or construction of this item. 

Then again, the price is so low what the hell should one expect. 

As long as you are aware of the above complaints, purchasing the RP90 could be a good option if you are new to guitar and want to gather a ton of new effects.  Seasoned guitar players looking for quality sound for live or recording should definitely look to more serious options.
