Ok, so you bought some good drum programming software but the problem is that you find it way too difficult to program realistic sounding beats on your keyboard, right? I had this problem for months. The keyboard's linear setup makes it very clumsy, not to mention slow, to go forward and program beats efficiently. For $199.99, the Akai MPD24
is a solid and affordable USB controller which I find to be a quality addition to my home studio.
This USB midi controller has 16 MPC style velocity and even pressure sensitive pads. There are 4 savable pad banks for a total of 64 playable pads at your disposal. (review continued below...)
Live eBay Results:
You will notice at the top of the machine 6 actual fader selectors. I found these much more useful than the simple knobs that other affordable USB controllers seem to be sporting these days.
As far as programming goes, the Akai MPD24 allows a musician an incredible amount of freedom for your projects. I find that the velocity sensors worked great with Reason and also Drum Kit From Hell software packages. If you don't already have one, picking up this from Akai is probably wise only if you do a fair amount of programming and want to save some time.
