Review: Digitech RP50 – Pure Garbage
I am not a huge fan of Digitech in general but let's take a closer look at their hot selling RP50. This $50 wonder claims to give you hundreds of effects and cab emulations for a cheap price.
Let's start first with construction. Using toy grade thin plastic, Digitech has created a quickly destructable unit which will not endure years of road worthy gigs. I would not suggest ever playing live or recording with this pedal, it hurts your sound. Digitech tried to jam in the features at the expense of having any of them sound good or work well.
Starting with the ear piercing digital distortion, If you like distortion that sounds like it is coming from a childs toy then you should buy the RP50. You cannot hear the guitar notes but rather hear the noisiest and thinnest rat distortion ever produced by modern technology. The clean tone effects are quieter and will have more use but still suck compared to similarly priced models.
I strongly urge you to stay away from any Digitech RP series of effects, they are below average petformers that are poorly made. What company in their right mind would produce a product designed to be stomped on out of barbie doll quality plastic?� Move on!
cry baby..anyways, I just got the rp50 for 25 dollars, you cant beat that, well, from what I’ve seen. I heard it at a guitar center and I thought it sounded great for such a small pedal. I got it just to record into my laptop because then I can just stick some batteries or plug it in and its not all bulky and big for the table, not to play a gig, I’d be afraid to use it at a gig cause its plastic. I have my Mesa Boogie 295 with a Marshall JMP1 for live.
